Dorsal Fracture-Dislocations of the Proximal Interphalangeal Joint.

چکیده
Dorsal fracture dislocations of the proximal interphalangeal joint with or without subsequent instability require a careful initial clinical examination followed by appropriate operative or nonoperative treatment. Attention to detail is crucial in achieving a successful outcome, regardless of the treatment selected. This article outlines the various classification systems available for dorsal fracture dislocation of the proximal interphalangeal joint and the appropriate treatment. It further describes management of cases that present late and require secondary reconstructive procedures.

Dorsal proximal interphalangeal joint fracture-dislocations: evaluation and treatment.
Proximal interphalangeal joint injuries are common and often can be treated nonsurgically. Some dorsal fracture-dislocations, however, require special attention or surgical management to optimize outcomes. Treatment options for dorsal proximal interphalangeal fracture-dislocations include splinting, percutaneous pinning, fracture fixation, external fixation devices, volar plate arthroplasty, an...
متن کاملFracture-dislocation about the finger joints.
Fracture-dislocations in the small joints of the fingers are challenging injuries. The surgeon must choose an appropriate treatment based on fracture pattern, joint stability, and injury chronicity. Fracture-dislocations of the proximal interphalangeal joint are notoriously unforgiving, with potential long-term sequelae of residual pain and stiffness. Similar injuries in the distal interphalang...
متن کاملFracture-dislocations of the proximal interphalangeal joint.
Fracture-dislocations of the proximal interphalangeal joint encompass a spectrum of injury severity, ranging from injuries that require little intervention to those that require advanced reconstructive surgery for optimal outcome. Three fracture-dislocation patterns are recognized: dorsal, volar, and pilon. Acceptable outcome is dependent on achieving and maintaining a well-aligned and well-red...
متن کاملCast immobilization for treatment of dorsally subluxated proximal interphalangeal joint in a Thoroughbred mare
Subluxation of the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ or pastern joint) is an uncommon condition that occurs in the forelimb or hindlimb. Thoroughbred racehorses rarely show dorsal pastern subluxation (Thoroughbred ringbone) secondarily to an injury to the soft tissues supporting the fetlock. A 4-year-old Thoroughbred mare was presented with signs of lameness, swelling of the dorsal aspect of...
متن کاملSimultaneous ipsilateral proximal interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal dislocation of the fifth phalanx: A case report
INTRODUCTION There is no case of simultaneous ipsilateral proximal interphalangeal and metacarpophalangeal dislocation of a finger in the literature. CASE PRESENTATION A 61 years old male patient sustained an ipsilateral dorsal dislocation of the PIP joint of his fifth finger and dorsal dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint. Closed reduction of proximal interphalangeal joint was achiev...
